Off to London
We planned to arrive in London on 23 April 2015. However, PAL cancelled our flight due to operational issues and booked us on 24 April.
House of Parliament Tour
We joined the 90-minute guided tour of the Houses of Parliament on 25 April 2015. We visited the Chambers of the House of Lords and the House of Commons but we were not allowed to take photographs. The tour highlights include the Westminster Hall, Norman Porch, Queen's Robing Room, Royal Gallery, Prince's Chamber, Lords Chamber, Moses Room, Central Lobby, Members' Lobby, Aye Lobby, Commons Chamber and St. Stephen's Hall.
Big Ben
Big Ben is the nickname for the Great Bell of the clock at the north end of the Palace of Westminster.
Westminster Abbey
Her Majesty The Queen was there when we visited Westminster Abbey. We waited for around two hours but we didn't see her.
Piccadilly
Piccadilly Circus is a busy road junction and a tourist attraction. It is close to major shopping centres, theatres and other entertainment areas.
Greenwich
Our Great Britain tour started on 26 April 2015. That was the same day the London Marathon started. We expected there would be road blockages. Hence, we got a taxi and checked out from our hotel at around 4:30 AM. However, the taxi driver couldn't find the meeting point based on the address indicated in the tour's confirmation. He charged us GBP23 and dropped us off at the road fronting the entrance of the Greenwich DLR Station at around 5:30 AM. It was raining and it was freezing cold. We explored the vicinity on foot with two medium suitcases and two hand carry bags. It turned out that the meeting point was about 200 meters away. We met fellow tour participants who also went there early to ensure that they wouldn't miss the tour. We boarded the tour bus at around 6:30 AM and proceeded to our target destination. At about the same time, the roads were blocked in preparation for the London Marathon.
