Edinburgh has been recognised as the capital of Scotland since at least the 15th century, but political power moved south to London after the Union of the Crowns in 1603 and the Union of Parliaments in 1707. Edinburgh has a rich past and many historic buildings, including Edinburgh Castle, Holyrood Palace, etc.
Edinburgh Castle
This is a historic castle which dominates the skyline of Edinburgh. It is the most-visited paid tourist attraction in Scotland.
Streets of Edinburgh
We took advantage of our free day. After visiting the castle, we explored the streets of Edinburgh and did a little shopping at Princess Street.
The Golden Dragon Restaurant
We walked about two to three kilometres in search of an Asian restaurant. We finally found a Chinese restaurant at the corner of Rose Street and Castle Street, Golden Dragon. Papa wanted to eat rice so badly; he devoured one platter of Yang Chow rice.
